What is Wing Chun Kung Fu?

Wing Chun Kung Fu is a Chinese Martial Art from Canton Province, China. By legend, it was created by a woman to defeat physically stronger and faster opponents. As Bruce Lee's original martial style, it is now one of the most popular forms of Chinese Kung Fu practiced today.

Based on simplicity, efficiency and directness, Wing Chun's basics are easy to learn and apply.

Chi Sao Clips

Here is a basic chi sao exchange between John Kang and Edgar Chan, broken into four sections. While not demonstrating perfect form, these sequences still show the sticking, constant fluidity, and relaxation that we emphasize in the beginning stages of sticky hands practice. On the average, a beginning student can attain this type of fluidity within 3 months.

Each clip is about 8 seconds long and about 2M big. It requires Quicktime 6.0 or greater to view.

Kagami Baraki Demonstration

On February 4, the Aikido in the Fan Dojo held its "Mirror Breaking" or "Annual Opening" Ceremony. As a member of the Dojo, East-West Wing Chun was invited to demonstrate. If you want to hear John rambling on, the full clip is HERE. Otherwise, here are the highlights:

Blindfolded Chi Sao
John demonstrates a free-form blindfolded sticking hands exchange. His partner John Lewis is being very cooperative :P
Application Examples
John Kang and John Lewis show potential applications against various attacks.
Circle Drill
John Kang, Julie Kraft, John Lewis and Jack Schell demonstrate a Three-Count random Circle Drill. Do not expect perfection :P
